Summary of Illinois CLE Requirements and Deadlines

New attorneys must take the Basic Skills Workshop. Please see the Illinois MCLE Board for more information.


 

Attorneys with a last name beginning A through M

If you were licensed before December 31, 2005 and your last name starts with a letter between A and M, you are in the first reporting period.

You must report your MCLE hours every two years. These are your MCLE requirements: 

For the reporting period ending
June 30, 2008,
you must obtain:

16 hours of general credit,
plus,
4 hour of professionalism credit
For a total of 20 MCLE hours.
For the reporting period of
July 1, 2008
to
June 30, 2010,
you must obtain:
20 hours of general credit,
plus,
4 hour of professionalism credit
For a total of 24 MCLE hours.
For the reporting period of
July 1, 2010
to
June 30, 2012,
you must obtain:
26 hours of general credit,
plus,
4 hour of professionalism credit
For a total of 30 MCLE hours.

                 
Attorneys with a last name beginning with N through Z                                     

If you were licensed before December 31, 2005 and your last name starts with a letter between N and Z.

You must report your MCLE hours every two years. These are your MCLE requirements:

For the reporting period ending
June 30, 2009,
you must obtain:
16 hours of general credit,
plus,
4 hour of professionalism credit
For a total of 20 MCLE hours.
For the reporting period of
July 1, 2009
to
June 30, 2011,
you must obtain:
20 hours of general credit,
plus,
4 hour of professionalism credit
For a total of 24 MCLE hours.
For the reporting period of
July 1, 2011
to
June 30, 2013,
you must obtain:
26 hours of general credit,
plus,
4 hour of professionalism credit
For a total of 30 MCLE hours.
