Reporting Method: Self-Reporting
Compliance Period: Two-Year Cycle
Reporting Process: Attorneys must certify their MCLE compliance through the New Jersey Annual Attorney Registration and Billing Statement. Compliance groups are assigned based on the attorney's birth month.
Compliance Deadline: December 31 of the attorney's assigned compliance year.
Reporting Deadline: Attorneys certify compliance during the Annual Attorney Registration following the end of their compliance period.
Total Credits Required: 24 credit hours every two years.
Specialty Credit Requirements:
- 3 hours of Ethics and Professionalism
- 2 hours of Diversity, Inclusion, and Elimination of Bias (included within the 5 required specialty hours)
Maximum Online Credits: 12 credit hours may be completed through alternative verifiable learning formats (on-demand/self-study). At least 12 credit hours must be completed through live or live interactive programs.
Carryover Credit: Up to 12 excess CLE credits may be carried forward to the next reporting period.
Record Retention: Attorneys should retain certificates of completion and supporting CLE documentation for at least three years.
