North Carolina Continuing Legal Education Requirements

Reporting Method: Sponsor Reporting

Compliance Period: Two-Year Cycle

Reporting Process: ApexCLE reports attendance directly to the North Carolina State Bar. Attorneys should verify that all reported credits appear in their CLE transcript. Sponsors generally have 40 days to report attendance. 

Compliance Deadline: February 28 of the attorney's reporting year.

Total Credits Required: 24 credit hours every two years.

Specialty Credit Requirements:
  •  4 hours of Professional Responsibility/Ethics 
  •  1 hour of Technology Training 
  •  1 hour of Professional Well-Being 
Maximum Online Credits: 24 credit hours. All required CLE credits may be completed through approved online courses.

Carryover Credit: Up to 12 general CLE credits may be carried forward to the next reporting period. Specialty credits (Professional Responsibility, Technology, and Professional Well-Being) do not carry over and must be earned during each reporting cycle. 

Attendance Reporting: ApexCLE reports attendance directly to the North Carolina State Bar.
