Compliance Period: Annual

Reporting Process: Attorneys must certify their CLE compliance through the Rhode Island Supreme Court MCLE and Payment for Indigent Defense Services Portal.

Reporting Deadline: June 30

Total Credits Required: 10 credit hours annually

Specialty Credit Requirements: 2 hours of Legal Ethics and 1 hour of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The DEI requirement is included within the 10 total credit hours. 

Maximum Online Credits: Up to 6 credit hours may be completed through on-demand/video replay courses. At least 4 credit hours must be completed through live programs or live webcasts. 

Carryover Credit: Up to 10 excess CLE credits may be carried forward to the next reporting period. 

Record Retention: Attorneys must retain original certificates of completion and supporting CLE documentation for three years.
