Reporting Method: Self-Reporting
Compliance Period: Annual
Reporting Process: Attorneys must report their MCLE compliance through the South Carolina Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization's online reporting system.
Compliance Deadline: February 28 (or February 29 in a leap year)
Reporting Deadline: March 1
Total Credits Required: 14 credit hours annually.
Specialty Credit Requirements:
- 2 hours of Ethics/Professional Responsibility
- 1 hour of Substance Abuse or Mental Health every two years
Maximum Online Credits: 8 credit hours may be completed through approved distance learning. At least 6 credit hours must be completed through live, in-person, or live interactive programs.
Carryover Credit: Up to 14 general CLE credits may be carried forward to the next reporting period. Ethics and Substance Abuse/Mental Health credits may be carried forward only if they satisfy the applicable specialty requirements.
Record Retention: Attorneys should retain certificates of completion and supporting CLE documentation in accordance with South Carolina Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization requirements.
