Texas Continuing Legal Education Requirements

Reporting Method: Self-Reporting

Compliance Period: Annual

Reporting Process: Attorneys must report their MCLE compliance through the State Bar of Texas MCLE Department's online reporting system.

Compliance Deadline: The attorney's birth month each year.

Reporting Deadline: The last day of the attorney's birth month.

Total Credits Required: 15 credit hours annually.

Specialty Credit Requirements: 3 hours of Ethics.

Maximum Online Credits: 15 credit hours. All required CLE credits may be completed through approved online, on-demand, or distance-learning courses.

Carryover Credit: Up to 15 general CLE credits and up to 3 Ethics credits may be carried forward to the next compliance period.

Record Retention: Attorneys should retain certificates of completion and supporting CLE documentation in accordance with State Bar of Texas requirements.
