US Virgin Islands Continuing Legal Education Requirements

Reporting Method: Self-Reporting

Compliance Period: Two-Year Cycle

Reporting Process: Attorneys must self-certify their CLE compliance through the Virgin Islands Bar Association member portal. Reporting groups are assigned based on the attorney's last name (A–K report in even-numbered years; L–Z report in odd-numbered years). 

Compliance Deadline: December 31 of the applicable reporting year. 

Reporting Deadline: January 31 following the compliance deadline. 

Total Credits Required: 24 credit hours every two years. 

Specialty Credit Requirements:
  •  4 hours of Ethics and Professionalism 
  •  1 hour of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders 
  •  2 hours of Technology 
  •  4 hours of U.S. Virgin Islands Law Programming 
Maximum Online Credits: All 24 credits may be completed through approved live webcast or previously recorded online courses. 

Carryover Credit: Up to 6 CLE credits may be carried forward to the next compliance period. 

Record Retention: Attorneys should retain certificates of completion and supporting CLE documentation in accordance with Virgin Islands Bar Association requirements.
