Utah Continuing Legal Education Requirements

Reporting Method: Self-Reporting

Compliance Period: Two-Year Cycle

Reporting Process: Attorneys must certify their MCLE compliance through the Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education's online reporting system.

Compliance Deadline: December 31 of the attorney's reporting year.

Reporting Deadline: January 31 following the compliance deadline.

Total Credits Required: 24 credit hours every two years.

Specialty Credit Requirements:
  •  3 hours of Ethics and Professionalism 
Maximum Online Credits: 12 credit hours may be completed through self-study or on-demand courses. At least 12 credit hours must be completed through live, interactive, or approved live webcast programs.

Carryover Credit: Up to 12 general CLE credits and up to 3 Ethics and Professionalism credits may be carried forward to the next reporting period.

Record Retention: Attorneys should retain certificates of completion and supporting CLE documentation in accordance with Utah State Board of Continuing Legal Education requirements.
